About Us

Our mission is to embody God’s love outside the walls of the church, in Brockport and beyond.

A progressive church in the heart of Brockport.

Our church is dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus here in Brockport. We are biblically-rooted, Christ-centered community, dedicated to living out Scripture’s call to justice and equity. We strive to engage deeply with our faith, connecting historic Christian orthodoxy with contemporary issues.

We have a special heart for those with church hurt. And we are fully inclusive because we believe that God’s love is for everyone. Scroll down to learn more about our church and plan your visit.

Our Core Values

Seven core values are at the heart of our identity at Brockport First Baptist.

  • As a worshipping community centered on Jesus, we value worship and teaching that glorifies God, welcomes all people, and engages deeply with Holy Scripture.

  • We are committed to nurturing the faith of children, youth, and families, providing a multi-generational space where all are invited to grow in community and the love of Christ.

  • We affirm the dignity, worth, and love of LGBTQ+ individuals and celebrate their full and equal inclusion in all aspects of church life and ministry.

  • We are dedicated to engaging our local community through acts of love, service, and hospitality, embodying the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

  • We value deep relationships based on love and respect, treating others as we’d like to be treated, listening before responding, and building bonds that will strengthen our community of faith.

  • We are committed to standing up for justice and equity, actively working toward a more just and loving society for all.

  • We believe in democratic church governance, where all voices are heard, and leadership is shared in the life and mission of our church.

Baptist + Progressive?

In this video, Pastor Dan talks about the unique approach of our church — how we embrace a “third way,” combining faithful discipleship with a commitment to justice and inclusion.

Inclusion Statement

Church Covenant

Believing that God has revealed himself to us through his only Son, Jesus Christ, we accept him as our Savior and the holy Scripture as the rule of our lives.

We will practice baptism of repentance in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. We will be led in a new life of obedience and humility that the will of God might be known to others through us.

We dedicate ourselves to the task of discipleship that life eternal might be proclaimed in all the world. We will assemble for worship, prayer, and service, and regularly gather at the table of communion to remember and experience the presence of our Lord.

We will strive for the advancement of the church of Jesus Christ, looking to God in prayer, so that we may know forgiveness of sin and be empowered to do his will with the company of his people, the church universal.

Our covenant was written when the church was established in 1828. It is revised every generation or so, signed by every member of our congregation, and read aloud every month when we take communion.
