MAKE YOUR FAMILY A PART OF OUR Family
Family ministry is one of our top priorities at Brockport First Baptist. At our church, you children will be welcomed by experienced staff and volunteers in a safe and nurturing environment. We strive to be a place where kids of all ages can encounter the love of God in Jesus Christ—instilling the values of love, justice, and inclusion, alongside a rich engagement with Scripture and the Christian tradition.
If you’re looking for a community that will partner with you in raising your children in the faith, we invite you to become part of our growing family ministry! Keep scrolling to learn more about our programming for nursery, elementary, youth, and families.
Our nursery is open every Sunday morning and for special events throughout the year, providing care for children ages birth through four years. Through activities like story time and free play, your child will be introduced to the God who created them and loves them exactly as they are.
On Sunday mornings, our nursery opens a half hour before the worship service and remains available for the duration of any morning adult education opportunities after church—allowing parents to fully participate in all Sunday morning activities.
ELEMENTARY SUNDAY SCHOOL
Children in grades K-5 engage in a wide variety of learning experiences at Brockport First Baptist. Kids spend the first half of the worship service on Sunday mornings in a traditional Sunday school format—learning Bible stories, doing arts and crafts, enjoying snack, and deepening their relationship with Jesus.
The second half of the worship hour is spent in our Elementary Worship Center, where kids learn to worship God through music and singing. The Worship Center has guitars, keyboards, drums, and dozens of smaller, hand-held instruments so that everyone can participate. Kids have an absolute blast learning to play their instruments and worshipping God together.
The fourth Sunday of each month is “Family Sunday,” during which kids spend the first half of the worship service in the sanctuary with the adults. The kids have an opportunity to lead worship, Pastor Dan teaches a special lesson for the children, and we explore other creative ways to incorporate parents and children into our worship time.
On the fifth Sunday of most months, K-5 children participate in a service projects with our Outreach Team—learning to connect their faith with God’s call for justice and mission. Previous projects include constructing hygiene kits to be dedicated to local homeless shelters, creating art projects for shut-ins, and assembling care packages for college students in our community.
Middle school and high school students stay in the church service on Sunday mornings—worshipping and learning alongside the adults. Our pre-teens and teenagers are fully engaged in the life of the church, encouraged to serve and even lead, as they feel called.
Our church is part of the Western Modern County youth program—bringing together middle and high school students from a number of different churches in our area for a combined youth group that meets on the first and third Thursday of the month throughout the school year. Under the guidance of caring volunteers, your middle and high school aged kids will get to experience fun games, service opportunities, special events, and small group Bible study that challenges them to go deeper and develop their faith.
It’s an exciting time to be part of our growing youth program. Stay tuned for more information and we continue to add to this ever expanding ministry!
